Quick Facts About The Portcullis

The Portcullis place has a number of strengths and weaknesses, as indicated by the comments provided. In terms of strengths, the staff at The Portcullis are frequently praised for their friendliness and efficiency. Customers appreciate the interaction they have with the staff and find them to be accommodating and attentive. This positive interaction contributes to a friendly atmosphere at the restaurant.
Another strength of The Portcullis is the quality of their food. Many customers comment on the delicious meals they have had at the restaurant. The steak pie, in particular, is highly recommended and described as the best that some customers have ever tasted. The food is also praised for being served at a reasonable cost, with generous portion sizes. This affordability and value for money is a positive aspect for customers.
The speed of service at The Portcullis is frequently noted as a strength. Customers appreciate the fast service, both for their meals and drinks. This efficiency ensures that customers do not have to wait too long for their orders, contributing to a positive experience overall.
In terms of weaknesses, one of the major issues highlighted by a customer is the unpleasant smell in the restaurant. The sewage smell, possibly coming from the toilets, is described as the worst smell ever encountered. This is a significant problem that would greatly impact the overall dining experience and could deter potential customers.
Another weakness mentioned by a customer is the dissatisfaction with the food quality. Specifically, one customer ordered the lasagne and found that there was very little meat, if any, in the dish. The meal seemed to predominantly consist of cheese and pasta sheets. This suggests a lack of attention to detail in the preparation of the meal, which can be disappointing for customers.
There are also some issues with the customer service at The Portcullis. One customer mentioned being charged for children's meals despite the advertised promotion of children eating for £1 with every paying adult. The customer was initially ignored when querying the charge and only received an apology after further communication. This lack of communication and failure to honor the advertised promotion is a weakness that can erode customer trust and loyalty.
Additionally, a customer mentions that the restaurant lacked a festive atmosphere, with no Christmas decorations and a cold environment. This indicates a lack of attention to creating a pleasant ambiance for customers, particularly during the holiday season.
Overall, The Portcullis has strengths in terms of friendly staff, delicious food, reasonable prices, and efficient service. However, there are weaknesses that need to be addressed, including the unpleasant smell, inadequate meat portion in a dish, poor customer service regarding promotions, and a lack of atmosphere. Addressing these weaknesses will be crucial for The Portcullis to maintain and improve customer satisfaction.

Best TL Reviews

Went to the portcullis for Sunday evening meal with Wife & child. Went through front door to be hit with the worst smell ever. Sewage smell possibly from the toilets.
Went through to the restaurant to be greeted by the pleasant staff. We were seated and had good interaction with them. Took are order and 20mins later we received are food on first impressions looked good. Myself and wife ordered the same main meal lasagne and once we started to eat the meal it was apparent that there was very little meat if actually any in the pot. seemed to be a bowl of cheese and pasta sheets.
I was very disappointed with this place. The previous experience was alot better. The front staff were on point.
Great food served by friendly and efficient staff. Worked out at a reasonable cost of £25 per person for 3 generous size courses, accompanied by soft drinks. I can personally recommend the steak pie as being the best steak pie I’ve tasted in years! The steak was cooked to perfection ????
Will definitely be returning for more in the near future… ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Very friendly staff, delicious meals and fast service. My favourite place to eat out.

Meal was lovely, surroundings were certainly not Chrismassy at all, no decorations and it was very cold
